Surgical nose correction
In a world dominated by socially imposed standards of human beauty, in plastic and aesthetic surgery there is a growing need to develop new methods and procedures that can achieve the ideal look.
One of the most popular methods to achieve this is called rhinoplasty.
ABOUT THE RHINOPLASTY
We define rhinoplasty as a surgical correction of the nose that can be done for aesthetic purposes, but also for the purpose of functionality in people with congenital or acquired deformities of the nasal septum that interfere with breathing. The biggest challenge related to this type of procedure is the fact that just as there are no two people in the world with the same fingerprints, there are no two people with the same nose structure, which requires an individual approach of cosmetic and plastic surgery specialists during each operation.
Furthermore, the nose cannot be viewed as an isolated, unrelated to the rest of the body, or, more precisely, to the rest of the face. it is of the utmost importance to consider the entire structure of someone’s face (eyes, cheeks, mouth, face shape), and according to these parameters carefully determine what the procedure will look like, but also, more importantly, carefully define the patient’s expectations.
The ultimate goal of this operation must be the idea that, given the appearance of the rest of the face, you look like the best possible version of yourself, and not like a copy of something seen on television or Internet.

Rhinoplasty results
Nose surgery is a really demanding procedure which, if performed in an adequate way, can result in a really good end-result. Radicalization of the procedure usually has the opposite effect and can lead to bigger problems than the initial ones, and as such is not recommended.
Problems that are successfully solved with aesthetic and functional nose correction include:
- correction of nose hump
- correction of congenital and acquired nasal deformities
- correction of nasal asymmetry and nasal pyramid size
- correction of nasal functional disorders such as septum deviation
As we noted earlier, the key parameter that influences whether the surgery will be successful are based on patient’s expectations. A patient with realistic expectations can hope for a top-notch surgery outcome, while a patient with unrealistic expectations may have an insufficiently good end-result.
The procedure for correcting aesthetic and functional problems related to the nose begins with a consultation in our Polyclinic.
Our surgeon performs a detailed examination of the nasal structures and correlates them with the contours of the face, after which a complete evaluation of what is seen is performed and the doctor’s expectations from the surgery are defined.
In addition to the already mentioned realistic expectations, it is important that you are of the appropriate age for the operation – people who are not of legal age have not yet completed their growth and development, in which case the procedure is not indicated. The only exception is congenital malformations of the face such as cleft lip, nose, palate or combined (lat. Cheilognathopalatoschisis).
Instructions and operation
In the preoperative procedure, another examination is carried out by the surgeon and by the anesthesiologist. Since the operation takes place under general anesthesia, it is of the utmost importance to avoid consuming food and drink immediately before the procedure (if the procedure is in the morning, then no food or drink should be consumed the night before, except water). Our anesthesiologist will advise you if you’re taking any medications, and the consumption of NSAIRs (non-steroidal antirheumatic drugs – aspirin) is absolutely contraindicated.
During the preoperative consultation with the surgeon, we will explain to you in detail what the procedure will look like and what to expect during recovery.
The correction of the nasal bone and / or cartilage strives to achieve a satisfactory appearance of the size and shape of the nose.
During the first few days after surgery, most often during the first three days, swelling of the operated area is expected. This is completely expected phenomenon and it will not affect the final result. After the surgery, it is important to avoid strenuous physical exertion for a period of one to two months.
Within ten days of the surgery, it is possible to return to normal activities, and a slight swelling in the nasal area may be present for up to a month after the procedure.
